The Laval Rocket’s ability to reach the playoffs is largely due to Emil Heineman’s exceptional performance since arriving at the Montreal Canadiens school club. The team earned valuable points by defeating the Admirals 6-4 in Milwaukee on Saturday.
Heineman scored one goal and added two assists to take his tally to six goals and eight points in just six games. The Swede should have already noticed Martin St-Louis at the big club.
Individual performances aside, the Rocket won a fourth straight game and now have 68 points overall, three more than their North Division pursuers the Cleveland Monsters and Belleville Senators.
Pierrick Dubé matched Heineman with three points, including two very important goals in the third period. Laval trailed 2-3 early in the engagement and went into overdrive with four goals. Defender William Trudeau also played an excellent game, perfectly delivering the winning goal to Dubé.
Gabriel Bourque, Anthony Richard and Olivier Galipeau were the other scorers for Jean-François Houle’s team.
In a difficult game, Cayden Primeau finally prevailed against Devin Cooley with 23 saves from 27 shots. The admiral’s bouncer was busier with 30 saves on 35 shots.
In a game whose outcome will be crucial to the playoff race, The Rocket hosts the Monsters at Place Bell on Friday.
