In 2016, he served a term as the Liberal Party of Canada MP for the Winnipeg Center before NDP candidate Leah Gazan won the seat in 2019.
In 2014, Robert-Falcon Ouellette also finished third in the Winnipeg mayoral election with 16% of the vote, and in 2022 he finished fifth with 8% of the vote.
He is also pleased that some of the issues he outlined in his 2022 run for mayor of Winnipeg, including public housing, safe transit and homelessness, have become priorities for Mayor Scott Gillingham.

The Southdale constituency seat has belonged to the Progressive Conservative Party since 2016. Former NDP MP Erin Selby previously held the post for nine years.
