Road accidents: Two pedestrians seriously injured in Montreal

A 66-year-old man was crossing Avenue Papineau in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district on Monday afternoon when he was struck by a motorist south of Rue Fleury Est, according to information from the City of Montreal Police Service (SPVM).

The 19-year-old motorist was traveling north on Papineau Avenue when he collided with the pedestrian at about 3:30 p.m.

He was taken to hospital by Urgences-santé. The spokeswoman said he suffered serious injuries to his upper body SPVMJeanne Drouin.

If his condition was classified as critical in the afternoon, Ms Drouin indicated at the beginning of the evening that he had stabilized.

Collision investigators were dispatched to the scene to determine the circumstances of this incident.

90-year-old man injured by scooter

On Monday evening, a 90-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with a scooter driver in the Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles district.

The accident happened around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of 42nd Avenue and Boulevard Perras in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector.

The scooter rider would have been traveling east on Perras Boulevard while the pedestrian was crossing north-south, SPVM spokeswoman Jeanne Drouin said.

The 90-year-old suffered injuries to the upper body and was taken to a hospital, according to police.

The driver, a 39-year-old man, was treated for shock.

Collision investigators analyze the scene.
