A delegation from the New Brunswick region of Canada was received by the Ivorian employers on October 4, 2023.
On the agenda of the exchange is rapprochement with Ivory Coast through the identification of business opportunities that can be developed between the two regions and in particular between the Ivorian private sector and that of the New Brunswick region.
Led by the Minister of the Francophonie and Local Government of New Brunswick, Mr. Glen Savoie, this delegation was composed of several members of the administration and economic actors working in different areas of activity: training, agribusiness and ICT.
On behalf of the Ivorian Employers’ Association, the Vice President, Mr. Eric Thiam Sabates, who had at his side the administrators Yoro Bi Tizié, Ali Badini and Patricia Zoundi, thanked the members of the delegation on behalf of the CGECI and its President, Ahmed Cissé.
During his speech, Vice President Eric Thiam acted as VRP of Côte d’Ivoire to his hosts by presenting the economic advantages, the strong growth with enormous potential in various areas of activity and the line of sight of the efforts made in the area the attractiveness of the country through the Authorities for foreign investors. He also pointed to the strength of the Ivorian private sector, supported by the quality of business leaders who strive for win-win partnerships.
In addition, he pointed out the strong ties between Côte d’Ivoire and the New Brunswick region, in particular the sharing of the same language (French), cultural exchange and education, with a strong representation of graduates of the Canadian education system in Côte d’ Ivoire. He continued his intervention, calling on companies from this Canadian region to establish themselves in Ivory Coast, of course with the same treatment as Ivorian companies: for a win-win partnership.
For his part, Minister Glen Savoie noted that the presence of the delegation he led was part of its participation in SARA 2023.
Therefore, members of the New Brunswick delegation noted with satisfaction the incredible work that Côte d’Ivoire has done in the area of agriculture. The reception of the CGECI also strengthened this delegation in the idea of bringing the two areas closer together for the development of prosperity.
After the presentation of the opportunities of the Ivorian economy by the Executive Director of the CGECI, Mr. Stéphane Aka-Anghui, the exchange continued. New Brunswick representatives highlighted the uniqueness of this Canadian region. This is based mainly on exports, the green economy (forestry), the blue economy (maritime), oil refining and many agricultural products that are exported without prior processing, as is the case of Ivory Coast.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the priority sectors of the region are: energy, cybersecurity, digital health, agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, etc.
With a view to continuing cooperation, the two parties emphasized the need to continue exchanges within the framework of a fruitful win-win relationship for the two countries and especially for the private sector. As part of a “quick-win” dynamic, cooperation opportunities were identified in the aquaculture sector, in agriculture (potato production) and in vocational training, with the prospect of an inventory in twelve months.
