The Régie de l’assurance maladie du Quebec (RAMQ) announced Thursday that it is no longer necessary to visit a Société de l’assurance automobile du Quebec (SAAQ) office to renew a health insurance card.
Quebecers are temporarily asked to send their completed and signed renewal form to the Régie de l’assurance maladie. It is not necessary to provide a photo, since the director uses the photo already stored.
This flexibility measure is introduced to prevent citizens from going to a service point SAAQ. For several weeks there has been a traffic jam and waiting times in the offices of the SAAQ are important due to the difficulties associated with the digital transformation of the Crown group.
For some years now, under normal circumstances, driver’s license and health insurance card renewals have been carried out simultaneously at the offices of the SAAQ.
People whose health insurance card has expired for more than six months are asked to call RAMQ to get a new one.
In the case of an expiry of less than six months, the extension notification received by the persons is to be used. If the renewal notice is lost, it can be ordered from the website of the RAMQ.
