Quentin Miller sees himself surpassing Fowler and Dobes

In his second development camp with the Montreal Canadiens, goalie Quentin Miller is thinking big. His goal is to become the team’s top prospect at his position, and he will work to make that happen.

The Quebec native experienced ups and downs during his junior training in the QMJHL, which will continue next season with the Rimouski Océanic. After winning the Memorial Cup as an assistant to William Rousseau, he had a tougher time as the No. 1 option with the Quebec Remparts, who had just lost most of their starting players.

His situation improved considerably in Bas-Saint-Laurent, where he maintained a 10-4-0 record, a .917 efficiency rating and a 2.60 goals-against average. The next campaign will be crucial in their path.

“I’m trying to show the world that I’m capable of playing with the professionals,” he said in a press conference on Wednesday. WATCH THE MAIN VIDEO.

“To see goalkeepers like this [Jacob] Fowler and [Jakub] Dobes, it pushes me to do better. I see their level and I know I’m capable of surpassing them, of being better than them. “I don’t stress too much, but it motivates me,” Miller added.

Obviously, the Montrealer still has a lot to eat before he can compete with these two talents in front of the CH net. At 23 years old, Dobes is the No. 1 prospect for the Laval Rocket, while Fowler had an exceptional season at Boston College.

Step by step, says Miller, a fourth-round pick in the 2023 draft.

“I had an injury, but other than that, my goal is to improve every day and every opportunity I get. This summer I’m going to try to build a little more chest, a little more muscle and strength. I still have a lot of work to do, but I’m confident of reaching the highest level,” he confessed.
