Quebec Health Federation union members generally support the agreement reached with the Treasury Board

Members of the Quebec Health Federation (FSQ), which is affiliated with the CSQ, approved the agreement in principle reached with Quebec, the union said on Friday.

According to the FSQ, 80.4% of voting members approved in principle the agreement reached with the Treasury Board on June 21. The agreement in principle was presented to members during the general meetings until Thursday.

“After more than 20 months of negotiations, members have decided to move in this direction, despite the challenges facing the health network,” the FSQ said in a press release issued early Friday morning.

“Although this new agreement represents an improvement in the working conditions of health personnel, there is still a long way to go. The network’s challenges are more present than ever and we must roll up our sleeves in the coming months to counteract the shortage of workers and promote staff retention,” argued FSQ President Isabelle Dumaine in the same document.

The FSQ-CSQ represents more than 5,000 nurses, practical nurses and respiratory therapists in the Laval, Côte-Nord, Nord-du-Québec, Gaspésie and Montreal regions.
