Production plant in Granby | A 12% increase in the first year

(Montreal) Union members of steelworkers who work at a manufacturing company in Granby have just ratified their new collective bargaining agreement, which gives them a 12% increase from the first year of the contract.

You’re a hundred to work for Industries Granby, which makes tanks for the oil.

The FTQ-affiliated Steelworkers Union notes that the 12% increase applies to an average hourly wage of $25 from year one.

For the second year of the employment contract, the increase in salary is in line with inflation, ie a minimum of 3.5% and a maximum of 5%. The same applies to the third year of the collective agreement.

The contract also includes increased evening and night shift premiums and holiday improvements.

“Our members wanted some salary jump and inflation protection after a six-year contract. We negotiated that by showing solidarity and giving ourselves a good strike mandate, which we ultimately didn’t have to use because the negotiations broke down. We are very happy with the result,” commented the president of the union unit, Vanessa Gariépy.

The Canadian press tried to reach the employer on Monday, but their offices were closed for the Easter holiday.
