Yesterday Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Jody Kuzenko, President and CEO of Toronto-based Canadian company Torex Gold Resources, Angie Robson, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, ESG and Communications, and Faysal Rodriguez, Senior Vice President of Mexican Operations. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the Summit of North American Heads of State and Government in Mexico City, Mexico.
Prime Minister Trudeau commended Torex for its leadership on diversity, equity and inclusion in the mining sector and for responsible international business conduct. Torex is the second largest gold producer in Mexico.
Prime Minister Trudeau commended Torex for its program launched in 2018 aimed at creating employment opportunities for women in Mexico. Torex executives discussed their experiences of investing and doing business in Mexico. Specifically, they discussed best practices for building strong relationships with local communities and governments where the company operates.
