The federal agency is urging the public to stop all use of these products and report their presence in stores to Health Canada.
The approximately 240 tablets affected by this recall were found primarily in stores in Ontario, but some were seen on the shelves of an adult store in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec.
On the one hand, the safety, effectiveness and quality of these tablets have not been evaluated, but on the other hand, these products contain dangerous ingredients.
Many of them may contain ingredients not listed on the label, such as prescription medications, possibly in doses that exceed recommended maximum amounts.
Analysis of products with similar packaging seized from other companies revealed the presence of several substances such as sildenafil, tadalafil and paracetamol.
“If a consumer takes a product without knowing its exact composition, they may increase the risk of dangerous allergies and interactions with food and other medications,” says Health Canada.
In some cases, the label may indicate the presence of a hazardous ingredient or combination of ingredients that is not approved by the federal agency.
Anyone who has used any of these products and has concerns is asked to consult a doctor.
