(Tampa) Strange things happen sometimes in Florida, and by that we don’t just mean the Canadians’ defensive play, as seen in Thursday night’s game at the Sunrise.
Since the birth of the Lightning in Tampa, and then the Panthers further south, the presence of Jesus and all his descendants has never been more visible than during the Canadian’s present visit to that fabulous state advantageously known for its oranges and its Backstreet Boys.
Thus, since arriving in these lands this week, we have been offered regular opportunities for repentance, such as outside before Thursday’s game or even a few yards from Fort Lauderdale’s famous Elbo Room bar, where dozens of sins are committed.
It is therefore not uncommon for one to meet a messenger of Jesus himself on the street, often waving a huge sign on which it is written that the Great Second Coming is imminent. Will Brendan Gallagher or Sean Monahan return? No one here could definitively answer that question, much like the Canadian’s direction.
Also in our luxury hotel in Fort Lauderdale, the bookstore was full of books whose main theme is the Bible and all its characters. But we said to ourselves that we’ll wait for the film.
Other than that, Florida doesn’t change too much, with its weather that goes from one extreme to the other too quickly, with its highways that are racetracks, with its very conservative side that feels almost everywhere without really knowing how or why . It’s not Tom Petty’s Florida anymore, that’s for sure.
But there are palm trees, and who can be against it? Person.
