Othman Jerandi receives a copy of the credentials of the new Canadian ambassador to Tunisia

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, received the new Ambassador-elect of Canada to Tunisia, Lorraine Diguer, on Monday, October 24, 2022, who presented him with a copy of her credentials.

The Foreign Minister welcomed the new ambassador and expressed the willingness of the Tunisian authorities to create all the favorable conditions so that she can carry out her mission in the best conditions. In this regard, he welcomed the age-old relationship between Tunisia and Canada and expressed our country’s intention to develop it further.

On the other hand, the Tunisian minister explained the fundamentals and stages of the reform process in Tunisia, which will culminate on December 17th with the organization of parliamentary elections, stressing that the democratic path is a permanent choice that respects the principles of democracy and universal freedoms .

For her part, the new Canadian ambassador expressed her pride in her appointment to Tunisia and stressed the importance her country attaches to developing cooperative relations with Tunisia. The diplomat assured that her country would attend the Francophonie summit in Djerba with a high-ranking delegation.
