Oilers find their way back to winning ways

Mattias Janmark had three points, including two goals, as the Oilers went on a three-game losing streak. They defeated the Stars 6-3.

The Swede completed a run started by Klim Kostin late in the first half to draw 1-1 and then completed the goal in an empty net late in the game. The 30-year-old forward was also an accomplice of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins’ net in the second half.

Connor McDavid had a fairly quiet game by his standards, scoring in the third period with his only shot of the game. The Oilers captain took over the propulsion in his own area before vibrating the ropes at the far end of the rink. Zach Hyman with the winning goal and Warren Foegele were the other Oilers scorers in the game.

However, it was the Stars who scored the first goal thanks to Roope Hintz. The Finn continued his sparkling start to the season, scoring his 14th goal of the season with a one-timer. Rookie Wyatt Johnson restored his team’s lead in the first minute of the second period with a crisp, accurate shot that Stuart Skinner missed. Tyler Seguin also hit the mark for the Texas squad.

Skinner stopped 24 of 27 shots he faced to earn his tenth win of the season. His opposite number Jake Oettinger stopped 28 pucks in the loss.

The Stars will host the Canadiens on Friday, while the Oilers will host the Canucks on the same day.
