The Minister for Municipalities and Housing, John Lohr, says the project will provide temporary housing for healthcare workers across the province until more permanent solutions are available.
Communities across the province are struggling to hire and retain medical professionals due to limited housing supply, and Lohr hopes modular housing can fill that gap.

The organization Nova Scotia Housing Trust Work with municipalities to identify properties in communities where housing shortages are greatest.
John Lohr points out that these shelters are not reserved for medical personnel coming from outside the province.
The ministry says the modular units will be delivered as soon as possible once the province has selected a supplier. It is not known how many will be built.
Construction is scheduled to start this fall
One of the reasons we want modular homes is because we know it really cuts down on construction time, but even modular homes take time.
