The Montreal Canadiens lost 7-2 to the St. Louis Blues at the Bell Center on Sunday.

At the end of the first period, Jordan Kyrou scored the winning goal on the power play by blocking Robert Thomas' return shot from the blue line. The first city stepped up at the end of the third period and gave their team a five-goal lead.

The four-on-five game probably made up a good part of the encounter, as under these circumstances the guests caused the red light to flicker three times out of five opportunities. Thomas and Jake Neighbors are the other Blues players who have found the man advantage loophole.

The Habs took advantage of a five-minute power play in the first period when forward Samuel Blais was ejected from the game for a check on defenseman Jordan Harris. The latter left the game and did not return to the game afterward due to an upper body injury.

A few seconds after the end of this heavy penalty awarded to the Quebecer, Nick Suzuki reduced the deficit to 2 to 1. Juraj Slafkovsky collected at least one point for the fifth game in a row, recording an assist for his captain's success.

Joel Armia also responded for the Montreal club by stopping David Savard's shot in the third period. Alexey Toropchenko and Nathan Walker have also threaded the needle for the Blues.

In addition, Kaiden Guhle retreated to the locker room at the end of the game after making contact with Marco Scandella.

In the loss, Jake Allen conceded seven goals on 36 shots. His opponent Jordan Binnington saved 30 pucks.

The Habs will be back in action on Tuesday when the Anaheim Ducks visit Montreal.
