The tender for the construction of the Palmarolle Senior Center in Abitibi-Ouest has been cancelled.
The Société québécoise des Infrastructures (SQI) received two bids to construct the building, but decided not to go ahead with it due to the sums proposed.
One bid was placed for $31.4 million and the other for $41.6 million.
amounts essentially
higher than expected by the Société québécoise des Infrastructures and the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
SQI spokesman Francis Martel argued via email that uncertainty surrounding inflation may have had an impact on tenders.
He says the company needs to review the building plans for the retirement home before resuming the bidding process.
” This will cause an additional delay that is risky to predict accurately. »
Despite these delays, Mr. Martel reiterates the SQI’s desire to complete the construction of the Palmarolle Elders’ Centre.
The tender for the start of construction of the senior center Palmarolle was launched late last spring. The Quebec government had announced a retirement home in the community in February 2020.
