Canadiens forward Josh Anderson has confirmed team-mate Jonathan Drouin isn’t particularly upset with him after he ‘stole’ his first goal in over a year.
The Quebecer practically scored the winning goal against the Blues yesterday but Anderson gave the puck an extra shot just before it crossed the red line. An instinctive gesture, no doubt aimed at making sure the goal was scored, but which deprived Drouin of that net that would benefit him the most.
“Yeah, we joked about it last night,” Anderson said on the sidelines of club training today.
“We didn’t really know (who scored) until 5-10 minutes after the game when we were with the other players,” he added. He came to me, he didn’t mind.
In fact, the two men don’t care.
“He knows he’s playing well and they (the goals) are going to come in bunches,” summarized Anderson, adding that Drouin could very well score two goals in the next game, as Joel Armia did yesterday, just around to get out of his lethargy.
“You just have to keep playing well,” said Anderson. Like “Army” (Joel Armia), he was awarded for a few games. Dominating in the offensive zone, he created chances. And he was rewarded. We just have to keep working!”
