Blackhawks lose without Connor Bedard

After recording a victory in their first preseason game in which Connor Bedard scored two points, the Chicago Blackhawks lost in overtime 3-2. What drew attention in this game was the serious injury to former Gatineau Olympics Samuel Savoie. The latter suffered a hard check from Minnesota defender Alex Goligoski. His legs took the brunt of the impact as they landed directly in the belt.

In that game, Connor Dewar scored the winning goal for the St. Paul-based team.

The Hawks will challenge the Red Wings on Sunday.

The Islanders, Canucks and Red Wings win

In the game between the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers, which was postponed due to flooding and was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, the former won 5 to 3. Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his club’s first goal. Alexis Lafrenière also recorded an assist.

The Vancouver Canucks won their game against the Edmonton Oilers 5 to 2. Defenseman and club captain Quinn Hughes collected three points, including two goals, in the win.

For Detroit, Alex DeBrincat collected two assists in the Red Wings’ 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals. Dylan Larkin flashed the red light twice.
