New opportunities for Canadian health professionals to engage and inform Canadians on YouTube

In order for healthcare professionals to be included, their channels will be reviewed based on a Set of principles Developed by a committee of experts convened by the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS), and the World Health Organization (WHO) to determine its credibility.

Healthcare professionals must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be licensed as a physician, nurse or mental health professional.
  • Principles for the exchange of health information CMSS/NAM/WHO must be respected.
  • At least 1,500 valid watch hours for public YouTube channel videos in the last 12 months or 1.5 million valid views for public Shorts in the last 90 days.
  • The content of the YouTube channel should primarily focus on health information.
  • The YouTube channel must not have any active strikes for violating the Community Guidelines.
  • The YouTube channel may not be operated by pharmaceutical companies, health insurers or medical device manufacturers.
