These violent and traumatic crimes were committed in the victim’s home, where everyone should feel safe
said Staff Sergeant Michelle Doyle in a press release.
The first victim is a young girl who was attacked in February 1984 in the Thorncliffe neighborhood of northeast Calgary. A month later, the suspect is said to have attacked a woman in the north-west of the city.
When she tried to escape, the man forced her into another bedroom, where he sexually abused her
the police said in a press release.
The third sexual assault occurred in June 1985 at a house in the south-west of the city. The victim was asleep when the perpetrator entered the apartment. The technology used made it possible to establish that the three attacks were linked by the same suspect.
Police have filed seven charges against the suspect, a 69-year-old Edmonton man, under the 1984 Criminal Code, including sexual relations with a woman who is not his wife and sexual assault on a minor under the age of 14.
Two other charges were brought under the 1985 Criminal Code.
