Netflix is testing cloud gaming in Canada and the UK

Since we added mobile gaming to Netflix in 2021, we’ve worked together to provide our members with an exceptional gaming experience. Our goal has always been to provide a game for everyone, and we work hard to meet members where they are with an accessible, seamless, and ubiquitous service. Today we’re taking the first step towards making games playable on all the devices our members enjoy Netflix on – TVs, computers and mobile phones.

We’re launching a limited beta test with a small number of members in Canada and the UK today on select TVs and over the next few weeks on PCs and Macs via Netflix.com on supported browsers. Two games will be part of this first test: Oxenfree from Night School Studio, a Netflix game studio, and Molehew’s Mining Adventure, an arcade gem mining game. To play our games on TV, we’re introducing a controller that we already have in our hands most of the time: our phone. PC and Mac users can play Netflix.com with keyboard and mouse.

This limited beta is designed to test our game streaming technology and controller and improve the member experience over time. Games on TV work on select devices from our first partners including: Amazon Fire TV Casting devices, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TV, Nvidia Shield TV, Roku devices and TVs, Samsung Smart TVs and Walmart ONN. More devices will be added over time.

By making the games available on more devices, we hope to make gaming even easier for our members around the world. While we’re still in the early stages of our gaming journey, we’re excited to bring joy to our members through games. We look forward to hearing from our testers and sharing more information as we go along.
