The Hurricanes would look to make a trade that improves the team now, not get a handful of prospects or draft picks.
The Nashville Predators, Seattle Kraken and Montreal Canadiens are reportedly still involved in discussions about the 25-year-old Czech, who is reportedly unhappy with his role in Carolina and whose salary demands do not please the organization.
Necas, who will become a restricted free agent on July 1 unless something changes, has been the subject of rumors for several weeks now. There have also been rumors in recent days that he could be the subject of a hostile offer if the Hurricanes are too greedy for him.
The striker was selected by the Hurricanes in the first round of the 2017 draft and finished 12th overall. He showed his strength with 71 points (28 goals, 43 assists) in 82 games.
His performance dropped somewhat last season, when he scored 24 goals and 29 assists in 77 games.
