After the touching series My Son, it is with joy that VAT announces the arrival of the second chapter of the Mental Health and Family collection next fall. My motherproduced by duo productions in cooperation with Quebecor content is written by the productive tandem Anne Boyer and Michel d’Astous and manufactured by Francois Bouvier. Filming for the series begins on June 20th.

My mother recounts the complicated but positive journey of Chantal (Chantal Fontaine), 60, who has just been released from prison after 18 months. During that time she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is now at a crossroads. For the first time in her life she dares to believe in a better future in transparency and reconstruction.

Chantal begins therapy and decides to be fair to her family, who have always abused and cheated on her. Her eldest daughter Valérie (Marylin Castonguay), 37, keeps her at a distance for good reason. But reluctantly they have to live together, while Valérie goes through hard times and excesses that lead her to the brink of the abyss. Her other two children, Justine (Rachel Graton) and Éric (Steve Gagnon), as well as her spouses Rachid (Mustapha Aramis) and Christophe (Martin-David Peters), are also severely affected by their stepmother’s mental health issues. Everyone has their personal commitment and the return of Chantal reopens some wounds. In fact, nothing will ever be the same again!
