The Finn, who injured his knee during the preseason games, received a huge ovation while sitting close to the bench.
“My crutches were shaking a little, I’m not going to lie to you,” Laine confided in a fleeting Instagram post shared by the X account @HabsOnReddit. “Hopefully no one noticed!”
Laine was very proud of his teammates’ performance in defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0. However, he was disappointed not to be able to attend the celebration.
“I’m a little disappointed that I couldn’t attend the game, but with all the love I received from the fans and from all of Montreal, it made everything a little easier to digest.”
The 26-year-old striker will be out for two to three months after suffering a knee injury during a pre-season game.
