Message from the Minister of Health – Radon Awareness Month

This November marks the 10 e Anniversary of Radon Awareness Month, which aims to raise awareness of the health risks of radon and encourage Canadians to take action and test their homes for radon. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can have serious health consequences when exposed to high levels for a long time. In fact, radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in people who don’t smoke and claims the lives of more than 3,000 people in Canada each year.

The health risks from radon are serious, but the solution to protect yourself and your family is simple: you can easily test your home for radon.
