Martin St-Louis likes to work with duets

Like many coaches in the NHL, Martin St-Louis enjoys working with offensive duos.

There are currently at least two. Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield make up the first. Jake Evans and Rem Pitlick make up the other couple that seems set in stone.

For his part, the Canadian’s head coach has identified another player for the start of the regular season.

“There’s the duo of Dvorak and Gallagher. I like seeing them together, Martin St-Louis said during his press conference. I like going in pairs.

“It allows me to change a man in a line to have a different look without changing a line’s identity. It’s going to take a little longer for me to identify myself again.”

Among those whose role has yet to be determined is Sean Monahan. It is quite possible that the center player will switch to the wing at the start of the regular season.

A small mistake

In the third third, Kaiden Guhle made a mistake that led to a goal for the Senators. Up until this moment he was playing another good game.

“When he returned to the bench, he was undeterred. Those are things that happen, St-Louis said. It’s part of the game. I think he handled it well and it happens to everyone.”

The tranquility of Xhekaj

One of the players still able to collect points is defender Arber Xhekaj. Not only did he score his first career goal as a pro, but he also threw down the gloves in the first half against Mark Kastelic. He has asserted himself.

“I wasn’t happy because he jumped on me and made me fight,” Xhekaj said. I don’t know what management will do, but they will make the best decision for me.”

The rookie shows great confidence in his abilities. A quality that Martin St-Louis likes.

“He wasn’t drafted. In order to be there, he must have self-confidence, emphasized the Canadian coach. This is not arrogant trust. You see, he doesn’t hesitate.

Emil Heineman and Joel Armia didn’t finish the game against the Senators. Both attackers are injured in the upper body. Their cases will be re-evaluated on Wednesday morning.
