Montreal Canadiens fans sometimes have bitter memories of Mark Recchi’s time with the team, but for the Philadelphia Flyers he is a true legend. The former forward will also be inducted into the Pennsylvania Team Hall of Fame.
A ceremony will be held Jan. 27 at the Wells Fargo Center, before the game against the Boston Bruins, another of Recchi’s former clubs, the Flyers announced Thursday.

The Brit from Columbia spent two stints in Philadelphia and set the franchise’s single-season points record with 123 points in 1992-93. In 10 seasons with the Flyers, he collected 627 points in 602 games.
“As Mark’s teammate, I can assure you that no one is more deserving of this honor than him,” President of Hockey Operations Keith Jones said in a press release.
Recchi was involved in an initial trade with the Canadiens in February 1995. These were two hockey players who also earned their place in the Flyers pantheon: John LeClair and Eric Desjardins. The two men thrived with their new team and many CH fans can’t imagine what would have happened if they had stayed in Montreal.
He was again traded to the team for Dainius Zubrus, among others.
During his 22-year career, Recchi also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Carolina Hurricanes, Atlanta Thrashers and Tampa Bay Lightning.
