Phillip Danault has often said that he plays a more offensive role with the Los Angeles Kings than he did with the Montreal Canadiens.
And for good reason, as the Quebecer had his two best offensive campaigns in the National Hockey League in California with 27 and 18 goals.
However, with the arrival of Pierre-Luc Dubois this summer, many view Danault as the team’s third center.
However, Kings president Luc Robitaille disagrees.
“It’s hard to say who is No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 on our team,” he explained during a generous interview with JiC on Monday.
“Of course you have to put names on the board, but I’m not ready to say Phillip is our third center. I am ready to say that we have three very good centers.
In addition, Robitaille was very complimentary of the newcomer Dubois.
“He is a player who will help us,” he said initially. Firstly, he is a very good team player and a very good hockey player on the ice. He uses his size, he’s quick, he’s physical… he’s exactly the type of player we were looking for.
“When Anze Kopitar, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Phillip Danault take center stage, it’s not easy to play against the rest of us.”
