The college football game between the Acadia Axemen and the Mount Allison Mounties ended in a crazy way in Sackville, New Brunswick on Saturday.
After a series of unusual moves typical of Canadian football, the Axemen narrowly won 15-13 thanks to a field goal in the very last action of the game. Seen here:
With that, the kicker forgot his recently failed placement attempt. With 43 seconds to go, he sent the ball straight to the post. The Mounties regained possession, but lost it nine seconds before the end of the game.
The Acadia returnee then decided to kick the ball into the Mounties’ end zone hoping to pick up a point, which would have leveled the game 13-13, but his rivals avoided a “red” turning the ball in the end zone kicked opponent’s territory.
However, this was intercepted by an Axemen player at the gate door. The placement of the win followed as time ran out. This is what we call a turbulent ending to the game!
