Logan Mailloux manhandled the Toronto Marlies players, except the home team's offense dictated the tempo against the Laval Rocket in a 6-1 win Friday night at Coca-Cola Coliseum.

The Maple Leafs farm club directed no less than 39 pucks to the cage, which was defended by Jakub Dobes, who was very solid under the circumstances. The Marlies were particularly tenacious in the first period, shooting 17 times, leading to Logan Shaw's power play goal.

Mitchell Stephens responded 14 seconds later for the visitors, while Mailloux threw the opposition players off their feet. The defenseman shouldered forward Ryan Tverberg, who was focused on the puck. The check was effective but legal.

Joseph Blandisi came to his teammate's defense by throwing away his gloves. The fight was short-lived as he and Mailloux quickly fell to the ice. However, the Marlies had to defend in a five-on-four system due to an instigator penalty. The former Rocket also received a 10-minute game misconduct penalty.

Toronto turned heads with five goals in the third period, including William Villeneuve's second goal of the year and Shaw's second and third goals of the game. Blandisi got his little personal revenge by hitting the goal into an empty net.

The Rocket lost a key player in the second period when Emil Heineman fell near the boards. The Swede had to return to his bench on his knees and was unable to finish the game due to an upper body injury.

The two teams will cross swords again on Saturday afternoon, once again on the Queen City side.
