Logan Mailloux and the London Knights forced a sixth game in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OHL) finals at Budweiser Garden on Friday, beating the Peterborough Petes 4-1.
This gives the Petes and another Montreal Canadiens candidate, Owen Beck, a chance to become OHL champions in front of their fans on Sunday.
Beck, who has eight goals and 16 points in the playoffs so far, has been dropped from the scorers’ list. Instead, it was Connor Lockhart who gave the Petes the lead in the first third.
The Vancouver Canucks’ seventh-round pick bounced off a power play rebound and made the Knights sweat.
However, the Dale Hunter Club had not said its final word. Easton Cowan and Denver Barkey, both qualified for the next National Hockey League draft, blacked out the scorers’ list.
Thanks to his success, Mailloux also collected his 22nd point in the spring tournament. The CH jewel also pushed the puck into an empty cage at the end of the duel.
Ryan Humphrey scored the Knights’ other goal.
Goalkeeper Owen Willmore made 32 saves in the win. In the previous three games, the Petes had scored at least five goals.
