The two former Canadian players presented a knight in armor and helmet, holding the hockey stick in his hand and looking to the right. These are the same features as the logo of Assurancia, the champion team of the North American Hockey League. What differentiates them are the colors: orange and black for the Chaudière-Appalaches club, while the Montérégie club opts for khaki, black and gray.

A request from Thetford Mines

Lapierre and Latendresse explain it in their podcast The blue bag, On Wednesday evening it was announced that Assurancia officials had contacted them.

“They’ve been in the league for 25 years,” Latendresse recalls. They asked us if we could redesign the logo. We didn’t make any merchandise or jerseys. We immediately said we’re going to get back to work.”

The duo, who hold the positions of owner and managing director, agreed to avoid the dispute and have already returned to the drawing board.

“Ultimately, we are here to have fun,” Lapierre explained, without introducing a new logo.

The two friends assured that the name was chosen especially in honor of the 6e Royal Battalion 22e Regiment based in Saint-Hyacinthe, and the colors would not change.

“I promise it won’t look like the Boston Bruins logo!” laughed Lapierre, proudly announcing that season tickets were now free, putting an end to the little logo controversy.
