A CSMC press officer confirmed to Noovo Info that the brief meeting was to “make presentations” and “have a quick chat.” The CSMC representatives were eating at Le Parlementaire restaurant in the Parliament building when the minister stopped to greet them.
The CSMC spokesperson adds that Minister Carmant “has promised a formal meeting soon to potentially work together in the future.”
Minister Carmant’s office confirmed to Noovo Info that he was “open to meeting with them” without advancing the schedule. The brief exchange on Thursday enabled the minister to inquire about current projects at the CMSC, the cabinet added.
The Mental Health Commission of Canada – a non-profit organization – called for a meeting with Health Minister Christian Dubé or Lionel Carmant to discuss how the organization can help Quebecers with mental health issues.
The MHCC works with all provinces in the country except Quebec.
In an interview with Noovo Info on Tuesday, the president and CEO of the Mental Health Commission of Canada noted that support will cover time to access mental health services, how services are delivered and prevention, among other things Schools, particularly in CEGEPs, could impact and universities.
