Due to the 1:5 defeat against Sweden on Tuesday, Slovakia has to settle for fourth place in Group B at the Ice Hockey World Cup.
Juraj Slafkovsky’s team will face Canada in the quarterfinals. The Maple Leaf finished first in its group and has yet to lose in the tournament.

In the duel of the day, the Slovaks scored the Swedes’ first five goals. Lucas Raymond, Erik Karlsson, Andre Burakovsky, Isac Lundestrom and Joel Eriksson Ek were the authors. The last person on this list also did it again after his opponent’s first and only success.
It was Michal Ivan who, after Slafkovsky’s assist, allowed Slovakia to avoid a shutout.
Sweden, on the other hand, finished the preliminary round of the competition in first place in Group B. In the quarter-finals, they will face Finland. They lost their last match of the group round 1:3 against Switzerland. The Swiss country has thus taken second place in Section A from the Czech Republic and will face Germany in the elimination match.
