Project manager, rights management and business relations, independent productions (French services)

As project manager, rights management and business relations, you will negotiate with independent producers the parameters related to Radio-Canada’s commitment to original productions destined for the group’s various channels and platforms, both in development and in production.

You are responsible for negotiating the financial parameters, broadcasting rights and terms and conditions of the projects entrusted to you.

For this purpose:

  • You ensure the adequacy of the means of production with the artistic ambitions of the projects, respecting the budget targets, eliminating possible dead ends;
  • They consult with all relevant areas of the organization, including program and business units, identifying their needs and potential problems.
  • They recommend the appropriate financing strategies;
  • You are responsible for negotiating contracts;
  • They oversee the company’s commitments;
  • They ensure the administrative follow-up of the files, in particular that the information on acquired rights and operating restrictions are correctly reflected in the rights management systems and authorize the payments related to the different phases of the projects;
  • You will work with the assistance of an administrative support team.

Required profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, law or another relevant field;
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in audiovisual production, audiovisual finance or with a broadcaster;
  • Ability to understand and analyze budgets and production parameters (an advantage in youth and/or documentary genres);
  • Mastery of the main financing mechanisms and rules of the main Canadian lenders (CMF, Sodec, Fonds Québécor, Bell Fund, tax credits, etc.);
  • Good knowledge of Canadian French-language broadcasting environment and broadcasting arrangements;
  • Good knowledge of collective agreements (AQTIS, ARRQ, SARTEC, UDA);
  • Good synthesis spirit and strong negotiation skills;
  • High ability to manage disputes and take the attitude needed to find a solution;
  • Ability to maintain excellent interpersonal relationships both internally and externally;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel, identify priorities effectively and work under pressure;
  • Bilingualism, an advantage.
