It looks like multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos isn’t pushing a possible purchase of the Washington Commanders.
This was announced by the ESPN network on Wednesday.
In recent months, however, the Amazon founder had hired investment firm Allen & Co to explore the possibility of getting his hands on the organization of the NFL.
According to someone close to Bezos, the Commanders’ current owners, Dan and Tanya Snyder, are preventing the richest man in the world from making them an offer. However, the couple denies this.
Bezos is the owner of the Washington Post newspaper, which has published several stories about Dan Snyder’s inappropriate behavior. The latter has been in the hot seat and out of favor with other NFL owners for quite some time.
In addition, two groups would have made offers to receive the commanders. That would be around $6 billion. The first group includes Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils owner Josh Harris and former NBA star Earvin “Magic” Johnson. The second group is led by Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos.
