Head coach Jean-François Houle has agreed to a multi-season contract extension with the Laval Rocket, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens farm club, John Sedgwick, announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Sedgwick also took the opportunity to announce that assistant coach Martin Laperrière, goalkeeping coach Marco Marciano and video coach Charles Juneau have also agreed to multi-year contract extensions.
“Jean-François Houle has done an outstanding job as head coach of the Laval Rocket since his hiring in 2021. He and his team have demonstrated their ability to balance team performance and player development, creating a competitive and ideal environment for the development of Laval Rocket, which is our hopes,” said Sedgwick.
Houle will speak to media representatives about his contract extension this afternoon from 1 p.m.
Houle, 49, has served as the Rocket’s head coach for the past three seasons, during which the team has a record of 105-86-25. The head coach led his team to the Calder Cup semifinals in 2021-22, when the Rocket made their first American Hockey League playoff appearance.
Houle also served as head coach for five seasons with two QMJHL teams, the Lewiston MAINEiacs (2009–2010 and 2010–2011) and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (2011–2012 and 2013–2014).
His coaching career began in 2003 when he returned to Clarkson University in the NCAA ECAC, this time as an assistant coach with the Golden Knights.
