Japan | Eight Canadians will compete in the World Diving Championships

(Montreal) Eight Canadians, including three Quebecers, will compete in the World Diving Championships, Diving Canada announced in a press release Wednesday.

Pamela Ware from Greenfield Park, Mia Vallée from Beaconsfield and Nathan Zsombor-Murray from Pointe-Claire will be among the divers who will represent the country at the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, taking place from July 14th to 22nd.

Caeli McKay, Elaena Dick, Kate Miller, Rylan Wiens and Bryden Hattie will also be part of the Canadian delegation.

Canada won three medals at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary last year.

Vallée had won a silver medal in the 3m and another bronze medal in the 1m – a discipline that is not part of the Olympic program. She then became the first Canadian diver to stand on the podium in two individual events at the same World Championship.

Wiens and Zsombor-Murray also won bronze in the 10m synchronized skating, becoming the first Canadian men’s team to stand on the podium at this event at the World Championships.

The World Championships in Fukuoka are part of the qualifying process for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
