Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher has played in two games since returning from a five-game suspension. Let's say head coach Martin St-Louis used it sparingly.
In fact, Gallagher barely spent 10 minutes on the ice in his last game.
“I’m not going to defend Brendan,” columnist Tony Marinaro said during the show on Monday JiC on TVA Sports. I'm convinced he'll be playing 15 minutes in two weeks.
“But Brendan, during training camp and during the first few games of the season, we said he couldn't skate anymore and he couldn't play in the league anymore. But he improved as the season progressed. The five games in which he was suspended hurt him a lot. Brendan, when he's away from the game for a week or two or more, when he comes back, the first two or three weeks, it's difficult.
“I’m not telling you he’s an important player on the team, he’s not anymore.”
Afterward, Marinaro and the show's host, Jean-Charles Lajoie, noted that, in their opinion, Gallagher had the worst contract with the Habs.
“It’s the worst contract,” Marinaro said bluntly. It's worse than Josh Anderson because he's older than Josh Anderson, he's slower than Josh Anderson, it's more money than Josh Anderson, it's 6.5 (million) instead of 5.5 million).
“And we knew it when the contract was signed,” Lajoie added.
