It’s already over for Félix Auger-Aliassime

The Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime has obviously not yet woken up from his rigidity.

On Tuesday night, he lost in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in a second-round match of the Cincinnati tournament.

The day before, “FAA” ended a dreadful streak of five straight losses with a three-set win over Italy’s Matteo Berrettini. It was his first win since May 24. Due to his setback of the day, the 23-year-old now has a record of 14-14 in 2024.

Auger-Aliassime struggled against Mannarino when in possession. The 14th player in the world committed nine double faults and put in play just 53% of his first serves. He got broken three times and took just one of the six break chances he offered himself.

The Montreal native was 12th seeded in the tournament held in Ohio.

Auger-Aliassime and Mannarino will meet again on court Wednesday as the two men face off in doubles in Cincinnati. They meet Germany’s Kevin Krawietz and Tim Pütz, who are seventh seeded for this part of the competition.
