Financial support payments are made to more than 6.5 million taxpayers.
Those with a net income of $50,000 or less receive a one-off benefit of $600, while those with a net income between $50,000 and $100,000 are eligible for a minimum of $400. Individuals whose net income fluctuates between $100,000 and $104,000 receive a lower amount based on income.
This new tax-free lump sum is based on 2021 income and will be automatically paid by Revenu Québec via direct deposit or check to individuals who have filed their 2021 tax return.
Citizens therefore do not have to take any steps to receive financial support.
Taxpayers who have not yet filed their 2021 tax returns have until June 30, 2023 to do so and benefit from this new measure.
Individuals who received financial assistance as a last resort on December 31, 2021 and benefit from the automatic payment of the Québec Sales Tax (QST) component of the Solidarity Tax Credit do not need to file a tax return to be eligible for this measure.
Revenu Québec is also urging citizens to exercise caution. Fraudulent text messages and emails are currently circulating, promising the possibility of receiving a payment of between $400 and $600.
Revenu Québec does not offer refunds or payments in this way at any time.
