“I still haven’t won with the CH,” remembers Lane Hutson, even though he is the best player on the ice

After the rookie game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, everyone on social media was rooting for Lane Hutson, who was electric on the ice at the Bell Centre.

However, Hutson recalled that after three games with the CH jersey on his back, including two against the Detroit Red Wings at the end of the regular season, he still hadn’t tasted a win.

“Everyone worked hard. It was a good game, but I’m still looking for my first win in a Canadiens jersey,” he said proudly and competitively.

Hutson played to the left of Logan Mailloux, who generously praised his defensive partner.

“He’s a bad player,” said Mailloux, who wore the C for this matchup. “He takes the puck at the blue line and starts dancing. I’m just trying to get free. He can skate, he can pass, he can do everything. He’s fun to play with. I think we clicked today. After our first two performances, we felt comfortable with each other.”

The Canadiens’ defense in this rookie camp is of very high quality, including two first-round picks: Logan Mailloux and David Reinbacher.

“And Laine was certainly a talent worthy of being selected in the first round two years ago,” Owen Beck said.

Hutson and the Canadiens’ hopes will once again be pitted against the next generation of Maple Leafs on Sunday at the Bell Centre.
