Calgary – Andrea Skinner has been named interim chair of Hockey Canada’s board of directors.

She is taking over from Michael Brind’Amour, whose resignation was announced on Saturday morning.

His appointment was recommended by the 13 state, regional and territorial federations and federations.

She will remain in office until the end of the current board’s term in November. The Toronto attorney was first elected to the Board of Directors in November 2020.

Hockey Canada has been in hot water since this spring when it was announced that the organization had settled out of court a lawsuit alleging eight players were sexually assaulted following a 2018 organization gala in London, Utah, Ontario.

After flimsy presentations to a parliamentary committee, several politicians have called for the resignation of Hockey Canada executives in recent weeks.

The federal government also froze funding for Hockey Canada.

For its part, Hockey Canada last week announced the appointment of Judge Thomas Cromwell to review the organization’s governance.
