“He’s a guy who opened his eyes”

Selected in the fourth round by the Canadians for the 2021 draft, Quebec defender William Trudeau has done whatever it takes in recent days at the Montreal organization’s rookie camp to stand out.

TVA Sports hockey reporter Renaud Lavoie, along with many others, was quite impressed with the progress of the 19-year-old guard, member of the Charlottetown Islanders in the QMJHL.

He took the opportunity to reveal a little story about Trudeau on Monday’s JiC to explain why he seemed so prepared for this camp.

Renaud initially reported that things hadn’t gone so well for the young defender in the QMJHL at the beginning of last season. It was replaced when a member of the CH organization, in this case Francis Bouillon, investigated his case.

According to our colleague, Bouillon Trudeau explained that he has “all the tools in the world” to improve his level of play, especially with the presence of personalities like Martin Lapointe or Rob Ramage within the Habs to help him on his way. .

Then “Trudeau spent his summers in Brossard, at the Bell complex, he was there every day with those responsible for player development,” explained Renaud. The skills he worked on exist what exist today.

“At the end of the week, he’s an eye-opening guy,” he said of Trudeau, who left the organization “a business card” that could allow him to attend real training camp over the next few days.
