Abidjan, August 20, 2024 – The Minister of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Health Care (CMU), Pierre Dimba, received this Monday, August 19, 2024, the Expanded Program for Immunization (Dc-Pev Côte d’Ivoire), based in Abidjan-Treichville, a large quantity of rolling stock for 15 health districts, a donation from the Government of Canada, through UNICEF Côte d’Ivoire, to facilitate the transport of vaccines while maintaining their quality.
For Minister Pierre Dimba, who spoke in the presence of Mélanie Joly, Canada’s Foreign Minister, these devices will be used to “strengthen the mobile strategy in low-performing health districts.”
A total of 15 refrigerated 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser vehicles will be distributed to 15 health districts including Tabou, Soubré, Gueyo, San Pedro, Daloa, Tai, Mankono, Tiassalé, Seguela, Bondoukou, Sassandra, Man, Divo, Agboville and Abengourou.
These vehicles will cover vaccination activities in 611 health areas, responsible for vaccinating 11,640 localities. This important donation will help improve the population’s geographical access to primary health care in general and to quality vaccination in particular. It will also make it possible to bring the vaccine closer to the beneficiary populations by keeping them in optimal storage conditions using an appropriate cold chain.
This action underlines the quality of relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Canada.
