Happiness is in Winnipeg

The Montreal Canadiens arrived in Winnipeg on Wednesday for their game the next day against the Jets, and it makes you wonder what’s in the water (or in the air) in the Manitoba capital.

Highlights of the day included Evgenii Dadonov returning to training and… the beaming smile from Martin St-Louis! Our journalist Marc-André Perreault also benefited from the happiness that the Laval instructor exuded during his speech.

“You look like a million bucks to me,” he once complimented in his own way, teasing St-Louis with a laugh.

When the reporter from TVA Sports asked him about the relaxed atmosphere shortly afterwards, the Swiss driver looked at him with a smile before he had even finished his speech.

“You’re always in a good mood, you! You’re the one leaving this!”

Meanwhile, good cheer prevailed on the ice despite it being the day after a loss for the Habs: Arber Xhekaj and Michael Pezzetta faked a fight and Juraj Slafkovsky sent a puck inches from his face to taunt him. In short, everything went smoothly.

St-Louis was clear about his troops’ enjoyment of the training: “Enthusiasm is a very, very important ingredient in the recipe. That’s a big part of our success right now.

“It starts from the top… and maybe from the journalist too!” he said.

Of course, we’re a long way from last Monday’s impatient release!
