Haitian-Canadian Eagle Aristilde was appointed Canadian Ambassador to Zimbabwe

Former Radio Galaxie journalist in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Diplomat Adler Aristilde has been appointed Canadian Ambassador to the Republic of Zimbabwe. Adler Aristilde succeeds Mrs. Christina Buchan.

On Twitter, Aristilde, who is about to complete her current diplomatic assignment in Senegal, said she was infinitely grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Canada at the highest level.

“Honored and so grateful,” he posted on the social network-turned-X.com.

Ambassador Aristilde added that “being appointed as the new Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Zimbabwe is the greatest honor of my career as a civil servant!”.

Adler Aristilde (BA [science politique et gestion des affaires], Concordia University, 2003; MY [politique et administration publiques], Concordia University, 2005) was a journalist and radio host before joining the Canadian civil service, where he worked for more than 18 years. He worked first for Environment Canada (from 2005 to 2007), then for Employment and Social Development Canada (from 2007 to 2010) before joining the Canadian International Development Agency in 2010.

At Global Affairs Canada, Aristilde worked on strategic policy issues, institutional programming and partnerships, and bilateral and multilateral relationships. Notably, he was Associate Director for Planning and Evaluation (from 2014 to 2017), Associate Director for Business Intelligence (from 2017 to 2018) and Director for Innovation and Impact (from 2018 to 2020).

Most recently, Aristilde worked abroad as a political adviser at the Canadian Embassy in Dakar, where he was responsible for foreign policy affairs relating to Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Cabo Verde.
