Bélanger has served as executive vice president, chief commercial officer for the Canadiens since January 2017 and has worked for the organization since 2013. In May 2020, she assumed leadership of the entertainment sector while continuing to oversee legal and public affairs and community relations.
She will continue to focus on everything related to marketing, event planning and the commercial aspects of Groupe CH, which notably includes Canadian and Evenko.
“Together with our talented teams, we will continue to develop and deliver world-class sporting and entertainment events across our brands to create unique and unforgettable experiences for the world’s best fans,” Belanger said in a statement.
Bélanger previously had extensive mergers and acquisitions experience during his 18 years at Stikeman Elliott.
“With her unified leadership and expertise, France Margaret will continue to build fruitful partnerships and lead our ‘one team’ approach across the organization,” commented Canadian Owner and CEO Geoff Molson.
Molson will remain in his duties as president of the Canadiens, and general manager Marc Bergevin will continue to report to him.
Alongside Molson, Bélanger also serves on the NHL’s Board of Governors as Deputy Governor of the Canadiens. In 2020, she was selected by Commissioner Gary Bettman to serve on the NHL’s Inclusion Executive Council.
