Plessisvilloise Ann-Sophie Taschenreau didn’t miss her weightlifting debut. She qualified for the Senior Canadian Championships after her very first competition.
The 20-year-old was talked into taking up weightlifting by a friend about a month ago. In recent days she competed at the Quebec Championships and to her surprise finished second overall with 59 kg. “Everything was new. I had to change my diet to make sure I could handle the weigh-in. However, I had not completely changed my training. So I’m super happy with the result, even though I was really stressed out,” she said.
This result allowed him to qualify for the Senior Canadian Championships. She was far from suspecting such a result last month. “I’m really proud of myself. Not everyone has the chance to take part in such a big competition so quickly. »
She has been practicing CrossFit for a number of years and will continue her passion as she refines her preparation for this major competition. Ann-Sophie Taschenreau only sees positive things in the combination of the two sports. “It can do me a lot since there’s weightlifting in CrossFit. I could certainly benefit from the advice to improve my technique. »
The event will take place May 20-22, 2023 in Kelowna, British Columbia.
