In total, since April 9, almost 1,200 people, including 900 athletes representing 50 teams from Canada, have participated in this championship.
We are super super satisfied with the week, the organizing committee did a great job
says Julie Vézina, Executive Director of Ringette Canada.
The competition took place on The Collaboration Center in Regina, where the last Ringette teams met again on Saturday.
It’s a great hub here too, the co-operator hub with the six ice cream condos in the same place, so I think it was appreciated for the spectators as well to be able to walk around and watch one game at a time
adds Mrs. Vézina.
Goalkeeper Noémie Morin, who is taking part in the competition with her team from New Brunswick, who won the gold medal, enjoys these moments after the effort.
We worked as a team all week and then we managed to win the gold medal, we worked all year to get here, then that was our goal and then we made it
she raves.
A satisfaction also gained by the families of the athletes who traveled to Saskatchewan.
It’s basically the second year we’ve competed with my daughter and it’s been an amazing experience for the girls.
explains Mark Cormier, father of a New Brunswick player.
It’s wonderful to see them on the ice, seeing each other between provinces and teams and sharing this incredible experience together
he says.
The next Canadian Ringette Championship will be held in Dieppe, New Brunswick in 2024.
At first glance, Ringette resembles ice hockey, but differs in rules. Also, this sport is played with a ring instead of a puck.
